Belmont Abbey freshman Remick Tiller hit .429 for the match,
leading all players with 11 kills with just two errors on 21 total
attacks, as the Crusaders volleyball team swept the visiting
Converse College Valkyries this evening at the Wheeler Center. Game
scores were 27-25, 25-17 and 25-19. The Abbey improves to 3-12
overall and 3-7 in Conference Carolinas, while Converse slips to
7-15 overall and 2-7 in Conference Carolinas.
Tiller led an Abbey attack that hit .232 for the match (39
kills, 16 errors on 99 total attacks) while limiting Converse to a
.075 attack (28 kills, 20 errors on 106 total attacks). Tiller was
the only player to reach double figures in kills while posting
eight digs. Jennifer Angelich and Steffanie Holler both finished
with eight kills, while Bria James added seven and three service
aces. Defensively, the Crusaders won the dig battle 49-39 as Morgan
Kirby led the way with nine, to go along with four service aces,
while Tiller and setter Kay Schellenberg posted eight each.
Schellenberg handed out 36 assists.
Converse was led by Alaina Smith's seven kills, while Caitlyn
Hemm added six and 11 digs.
