The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team fell 2-0 this afternoon to
the visiting Limestone Saints this afternoon at Alumni Field.
Limestone improves to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in Conference Carolinas,
while the Abbey falls to 8-7-1 overall and 3-6 in Conference
Carolinas.
The first half was evenly played with neither team finding the
back of the net. Limestone did have a goal nullified due to an
offsides call, but it would get its first goal at the 51:28 mark of
the second half, Keegan Ziada sent a pass across the field to
Junior Smyth, who collected it just outside of the box, took two
dribbles and connected on a low shot into the right corner of the
net.
That was all of the scoring until the 79:20 mark when the Abbey
kicked the ball into its own net on a deflection.
Limestone outshot the Abbey 17-5 and held a 10-0 advantage in
corner kicks. Brandon Alvarez made six saves, while Mark Davidson
collected four.
