The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's volleyball team
pushed their win streak to eight consecutive matches and 13 of
their last 14 matches with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) win over the
Belmont Abbey Lady Crusaders Tuesday night in Williams
Gymnasium.
With the win, the Lady Bobcats improve 17-4 overall and 11-1 in
the Conference Carolinas, while The Abbey falls to 4-15, 4-8 in the
conference.
Whitney Justice and Megan Epperson had nine kills apiece to lead
the Lees-McRae offense. Justice had .500 hitting percentage with
her nine kills coming on 14 attempts with two errors. Katie-Marie
Legg had a .538 hitting percentage with 8 kills on 13 attempts with
only one error. Trisha Reese had a match-high 38 assists, and
Luana Rocha collected a match-high 14 digs. Meme Brown had three
service aces, and Megan Epperson had four total blocks, one solo
block and three block assists.
For The Abbey, Bria James had six kills, and Steffanie Holler
and Morgan Kirby had five kills. Kirby had a .556 hitting
percentage, her five kills came on nine attempts with no errors.
Kay Schellenburg handed out 21 assists, and Schellenburg and Holler
had three total blocks.
