Belmont Abbey received goals from Alana Ryczek and Nicole Voets as the Crusaders women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over the visiting Converse College Valkyries this afternoon at Alumni Field. The Abbey improves to 9-3 overall and 8-1 in Conference Carolinas, while Converse drops to 3-13 overall and 1-7 in Conference Carolinas.

The Abbey outshot Converse 18-1 as Voets put the Abbey ahead 1-0 in the 20th minute, taking a pass from Lindsay Palm and flicking a shot past Ashley Mercuri from five yards out for the goal.

That was all of the scoring until the 66th minute when Ryczek added an insurance goal. Connie Axiotis lofted a high pass to Ryczek at the goal mouth, where she tapped it off the right goalpost, with the linesman ruling that the ball crossed the goal line for the winner.

Belmont Abbey held an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks. Mercuri made 11 saves for Converse, while Kelsey Lovell did not make a save, as Converse's only shot was well wide of the net.
