Box score

The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision at Coker this afternoon in a Conference Carolinas matchup. Coker improves to 9-2-2 overall and 3-2-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey falls to 5-6-1 overall and 3-5-0 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey jumped ahead 1-0 in the 34th minute as sophomore midfielder Jack Reid scored off of a corner kick. That was the score until the 51:47 mark when the Cobras deadlocked the match at one on a goal by Mike Crook. 13 minutes later, Coker regained the lead when Eric Stiefield scored from 16 yards out.

The Crusaders tied the match at two in the 82nd minute, using a Coker own goal, as the ball deflected off of a Cobras defender for the equalizer, but Coker would push across the winning goal with just 32 seconds left, as Stiefield chipped the ball over Louis Liberatore, where Marc Mergena tapped the ball just over the goal line and into the net for the winner.
