Belmont Abbey sophomore forward Shayla Jackson led all scorers
with 22 points, but the Abbey fell 82-63 at Barton this evening in
a Conference Carolinas matchup. The Lady Crusaders fall to 8-5
overall and 6-2 in Conference Carolinas.
Jackson narrowly missed a double double as she scored 22 points
and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while blocking a pair of
shots in 34 minutes. She sank ten of her 16 field goal attempts and
both of her free throw attempts. Classmate Asha Hardaway added 13
points on three of eight shooting from the field. She added four
rebounds, three assists and a steal. Junior guard Courtney Naquin
added 11 points and four assists as the Abbey shot 38.2 percent
(21-55) from the floor.
Barton shot 52.1 percent (37-71) from the field as Sara Fleming
led four Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 18 points. Esty
Flores added 15, while Janetta Robinson and Jamila Johnson
contributed 14 and 11, respectively.
