Women's Basketball Wins Third-Straight With 68-56 Win Over Coker

The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team won its third-straight game with a 68-56 win over the visiting Coker Cobras this afternoon at the Wheeler Center. The Abbey improves to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Cobras fall to 4-8 overall and 3-4 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey dominated the boards, grabbing 49 total rebounds compared to the Lady Cobras 26. Leading the Crusader attack was Shayla Jackson (Knoxville, TN) with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Asha Hardaway (Greensboro, NC) also had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kelsey Daniel was the third Crusader in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds.

For Coker, Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) had a game high 18 points with five rebounds, while Kiesha Beavers (Williamstown, NJ) had another big game off the bench with 12 points.

Belmont Abbey's next game is Monday when it goes on the road to face Barton.
