The Belmont Abbey volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Newberry this evening at the Wheeler Center. Scores were 11-25, 19-25 and 14-25. The Indians improve to 4-1, while the Crusaders slip to 2-4.

Bria James led the Crusaders with six kills and tied for the team lead with 10 digs. Leanne Cassandra added five kills, two block assists and one solo block. Carrie Markham posted ten digs. Rebekah Weber handed out 15 assists.

Newberry was led by Priscilla Sales' 13 kills, while Kember Lichtie added 12 and 11 digs to earn a double double. Brianna Blakely handed out 35 assists and recorded three service aces. Lorena Maia had five service aces.

The Abbey is back in action Tuesday night at 7:00 when it hosts Limestone.
