Men's Soccer Falls At Limestone In Overtime, 3-2

The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Limestone this afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone climbs to 6-0 overall (1-0 Conference Carolinas) as the Abbey falls to 3-3 (0-1 conference).

Michael McEmerson put the Saints up 1-0 in the 37th minute as he beat the goalkeeper for a goal, but Belmont Abbey tied the game in the 68th minute with a goal from Julian Ballesteros. Limestone regained the lead after a corner kick. Dominic Casciato flicked the ball to Tom Beattie for the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute.

The Abbey's Adam Gray caught the Limestone goalkeeper out of position in the 86th minute as he fired a shot to equalize. Neither team scored in the rest of regulation, sending the game into overtime, where McEmerson scored with 4:19 left for the 3-2 win.

Limestone edged the Crusaders on shots (12-10) and corner kicks (5-4). Limestone goalkeeper Mark Davidson posted five saves as Bryan Alenky had one for the Abbey.

Belmont Abbey hosts Coker on September 16 at 4 p.m.
