Box score

Belmont Abbey freshman Nicole Voets (Chatsworth, CA) knocked in a shot from close range in the ninth minute Wednesday night and the Crusaders made it hold up in a 1-0 women's soccer win at Barton College. The win extends the Crusaders unbeaten streak against Conference Carolinas opponents to 32.

The victory kept the Lady Crusaders among the league's unbeaten teams at 5-0-1 while Barton fell from first place in Conference Carolinas action at 6-1-1. The Lady Bulldogs are 7-4-2 overall while Abbey is 9-2-3.

The defensive-minded struggled featured three shots on goal by BAC and none by Barton, who was playing without three starters (all received red cards in the last match). Abbey had an incredible 15-0 advantage in corner kicks. Voets's goal came after a corner kick. The ball bounced around in front of the goal until she got a foot on it and pushed a shot into the goal.

Senior goalie Anna Wells (Tallahassee, FL) got the shutout for Abbey while Barton junior Ashley Gregory (Wilson, NC) made two saves.
