Men's Soccer Edged At 11th-Ranked Lander, 2-1

The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team fell 2-1 at 11th-ranked Lander University this evening in a non-conference matchup. Lander improves to 10-1-1 overall, while Belmont-Abbey drops to 8-7.

The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead at the 31:22 mark when Michael Scharville nailed a penalty kick, which was called due to a Lander defender committing a handball infraction in the box.

The Bearcats tied the game at 1-1 when Arthur flicked a pass behind his back to K.C. Dunbaker who found the back of the net at 66:30. Adam Arthur netted the game-winning goal from directly in front of the net on a pass from David Winskill at 74:07.

Lander goalkeeper Hale was credited with six saves, while Belmont Abbey's Bryan Alenky had three.

Belmont Abbey outshot Lander, 18-8, while the Bearcats led in corner kicks, 6-5.
