Belmont Abbey freshman guard Richard Barbee set a career-high with 33 points, breaking the mark he set two nights earlier, but the Crusaders men's basketball team fell at Mount Olive 93-85 this evening at Kornegay Arena. The Crusaders fall to 8-8 overall and 7-3 in Conference Carolinas.

Barbee, who finished with a then-career best 29 points in the loss to Pfeiffer Saturday night, led all scorers with 33 points on 13-17 shooting from the floor. He also sank seven of eight free throws while pulling down three rebounds and collecting two assists and five steals. Jonathan Jackson added 20 points on 6-16 shooting, including four of eight from three-point range and a perfect four of four effort from the free throw line. Chad Patus added ten points on four of eight shooting from the field and led the Crusaders with six rebounds. The Abbey shot 47.8 percent (32-67) from the floor in the contest.

Mount Olive was led by Kendrick Easley's 23 points, while Brandon Streeter added 22 and Josh Brown had 19 as the Trojans shot 55.9 percent (33-59) from the floor.

The Abbey is back in action Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 when it hosts North Greenville at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. That game preceeds the Charlotte Bobcats-Dallas Mavericks contest.
