Women's Soccer Clinches Conference Carolinas Regular Season Title With 4-0 Win At Lees-McRae

The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team clinched the 2007 Conference Carolinas regular season campionship with a 4-0 win at Lees-McRae this evening. The Abbey, winners of 13 of its last 14, including nine in a row and its last eight by shutout, improve to 15-4-0 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 10-0-0. Lees-McRae falls to 5-14 overall and 3-8 in Conference Carolinas.

The Abbey received two goals from freshman Lauren Ware and one each by sophomore Melissa Daniels and junior LaKesha Bell.

Daniels put the visitors on the board first with Danielle Kubinski drawing an assist in the 36th minute. Ware scored the first of two on the evening just three minutes later as the Crusaders took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Ware extended the Abbey's lead to three with her second of the game in the 68th minute, and assisted Bell's insurance marker at the 89th minute, to give the freshman a five point game.

In ten conference games played with one remaining on Saturday, the Abbey has outscored its opponents 30-1.
