The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team fell to the second-ranked
Lees-McRae Bobcats 2-0 at Tate Field, wrapping up their Conference
Carolinas schedule with a 9-1 record and the number one seed in
next week's Conference Tournament. The Bobcats overall record
improves to 15-1-1 while the Crusaders slip to 11-8 (5-4 Conference
Carolinas).
Junior midfielder Kyle McGimsey (Plant City, FL) opened the
scoring for the Bobcats with his fifth of the season in the 30th
minute. After holding the 1-0 cushion after halftime, McGimsey
would bury his second of the game and sixth of the season in the
53rd minute for a 2-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Bryan Alenky made two saves in the net for the Abbey.
The Crusaders are back in action Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when it
hosts St. Andrews Presbyterian on Senior Day.
