BELMONT, NC - Belmont Abbey senior outside hitter Clarissa Stull
led the Crusaders with nine kills, but Lees-McRae outside hitter
Lacie Smith registered a double double with a match-high 18 kills
and 13 digs as the Lady Bobcats swept the Crusaders 3-0 this
afternoon at the Wheeler Center. Game scores were 30-19, 30-22 and
30-16. Lees-McRae improves to 13-6 overall and 5-1 in the CVAC,
while the Abbey falls to 3-11 and 0-9 in the CVAC.
For the match, the Abbey hit .069 (26 kills, 19 errors on 101
total attacks) as Stull finished with nine kills. Emily Becher
added six kills and seven digs. Smith led the Lady Bobcats with a
blistering .368 total attack, as she posted 18 kills on 38 total
attacks with just four errors. She was the only Lady Bobcat to
reach double figures in kills as it hit .264 as a team (55 kills,
22 errors on 125 total attacks).
Defensively, Lees-McRae outdug the Abbey 49-43 as libero Dani
Usedom led all players with 15. The Abbey was led by libero Monica
Halligan's 13. Becher and setter Sawyer Coble both finished with
seven. Coble finished with 23 assists.
The Crusaders will be off until Tuesday, October 3rd when it
will host Coker. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
