BELMONT, NC - Belmont Abbey senior outside hitter Clarissa Stull
recorded a double double with a match-high 17 kills and 18 digs,
but Pfeiffer fought off two Crusader match points in the fifth game
as it defeated the Abbey 3-2 this evening at the Wheeler Center.
Game scores were 32-20, 31-33, 30-27, 28-30 and 17-15. The Lady
Falcons improve to 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the CVAC, while the Abbey
falls to 3-10 overall and 0-8 in the CVAC.
Stull led all players with 17 kills, while Emily Becher and
Ashley Ringlein added 13 and 12, respectively. Pfeiffer was led by
Heather Klein's 15 kills, while Victoria Parish and Petra Ljubicic
added 13 and 12, respectively.
Defensively, the Falcons outdug the Crusaders 101-98, but Abbey
libero Monica Halligan led all players with 30 digs. Stull was next
with 18, while Becher added 15, Carrie Markham chipped in with 13
and Sawyer Coble finished with 10 to go along with 53 assists. The
Falcons were led in digs by libero Brittany Poole, who finished
with 26. Setter Morgan Liebert, who finished with 17 digs, also
handed out 49 assists, and tallied six kills.
Neither team was solid offensively, as the Crusaders hit .079
for the match (61 kills, 44 errors on 215 total attacks) and the
Lady Falcons hit .059 for the match (63 kills, 50 errors on 220
total attacks).
The Abbey is back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when
it hosts Lees-McRae at the Wheeler Center.
