BELMONT, NC - The Belmont Abbey volleyball team dropped a 3-0
decision to Coker College this evening at the Wheeler Center. Game
scores were 30-21, 30-16 and 30-24. The Cobras improve to 10-9
overall and 9-3 in the CVAC, while the Crusaders fall to 3-12 and
0-10 in the CVAC.
Emily Becher led the Abbey with eight kills, and Clarissa Stull
added six as the Crusaders recorded 25 kills on 105 total attacks,
but were undone by 31 errors as it finished with a -.057 attack for
the match.
The Cobras were led by Margaret Madison's 13 kills, posting
those on 26 total attacks with just three errors (.385), while
Allie Bragg added eight kills and Natalie Schembra finished with
seven.
Defensively, Coker recorded ten total blocks and outdug the
Crusaders by a 43-39 count. Schembra and Tara Nelson both led the
Cobras with 12 digs. Belmont Abbey libero Monica Halligan led all
players with 16 digs.
The Abbey is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts Queens
University of Charlotte at 6:30 p.m. at the Wheeler Center.
