BELMONT, N.C. — Triniti Cassidy scored four goals while freshmen
Kimberleigh Hansberry and
Macy Lashells each had three as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team got off to a fast start to defeat Converse 20-1 Monday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The third-seeded Crusaders defeated the sixth-seeded Valkyries for the second time in four days and advanced out of the quarterfinals of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
Belmont Abbey is now 12-5 on the season while Converse concludes the 2026 season with a 7-10 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders jumped out to a fast start by scoring just 12 seconds into the game with a Katelyn Miller goal via a Cassidy assist.
- All three of Hansberry's tallies came in the first half while Lashells scored twice as Belmont Abbey jumped out to a 12-0 halftime lead.
- Belmont Abbey scored six more unanswered goals in the second half before Converse scored its lone goal of the game with just over nine minutes remaining.
- Miller, Alena Clough, Addyson Greenspan and Abba Walsh scored twice in the contest for the Abbey.
- Greenspan led the Abbey with seven draw controls and two assists.
- Summer Eddinger made six saves in goal for the Abbey while also recording three ground balls.
- Cassidy and Caitlyn Marone had two caused turnovers each for the Crusaders.
UP NEXT
- Belmont Abbey will face No. 2 seed Mount Olive in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Thursday at Young Harris, Georgia.
- This will be the second time this year the two have played and a rematch of last season's conference tournament championship.
