SNOW HILL, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's golf team opened play at the Conference Carolinas Championship Sunday at Cutter Creek Golf Club.

Freshman Kellen Adickes led the way for the Crusaders with an opening round 74 while Dylan Reiser and Eduardo Arango each opened with a 76. Nick Norman shot 78 while Max Newton rounded out the team with a 79.

Belmont Abbey sits in 11th place after the first day with an opening 304. Chowan leads the tournament at seven-over 295, while Mount Olive's Jonas Arnstrom Bakker of Mount Olive tops the individual standings at two-under.
