NEWPORT, Ky. -- Belmont Abbey won its fourth straight Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Bowling Championship Sunday, rallying with three straight Baker game wins for a 2-1 victory over Emmanuel in the Mega-Match. The win capped an undefeated (3-0) weekend after earning the No. 1 seed in Friday's qualifying.
After dropping the traditional portion of the best-of-three format, the Crusaders evened the score with a 5-game Baker total pinfall win. The mega-match was then decided with a best-of-seven Baker series, which went 4-3 in favor of the Abbey. In the final game, The Abbey recorded strikes in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames to lead by just one pin. Both anchors rolled sevens to start the 10th, with Breaman picking up his spare. Emmanuel's anchor missed his spare, securing the title.
Following the championship,
Connor Breaman was named tournament Most Valuable Player for the second straight year, while
Jordan Woods and
Gabriel Scott joined him on the All-Tournament Team.
