HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team faced a quick turnaround as the Crusaders returned to the court to face Tusculum and Lincoln Memorial Saturday at LMU's Indoor Tennis Center.
The Crusaders battled but fell in both matches: the first a 4-3 loss to Tusculum followed by a 4-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial.
Belmont Abbey is now 1-4 following Saturday's results.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tusculum 4, Belmont Abbey 3
In the first match of the day against the Pioneers, Belmont Abbey's
Leilany Sanchez and
Rebekka Collyer won in doubles but Tusculum took the doubles point.
Both Sanchez and Collyer went on to win their respective singles matches along with
Mackenzie McCarthy at No. 4 singles.
Lincoln Memorial 4, Belmont Abbey 0
In the match against the Railsplitters, McCarthy and
Hanley Riner came away with a win at No. 1 doubles. LMU earned the point with wins in the other two matches.
LMU went on to win match at No. 1, 5 and 6 singles to clinch the match.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders return home next Saturday for two nonconference matches against West Virginia Wesleyan and Johnson C. Smith.
- The matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. starts, respectively.
