HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. —  The Belmont Abbey women's golf team opened the spring season with the LMU Battle at Hilton Head Monday at Palmetto Dunes.

The Crusaders opened play with a round of 337 and based on scores available, were sitting 15th out of 19 teams when the second round of play was suspended due to darkness.

Katie Cullen and Ella Wiklander led the Abbey after the opening round of play with scores of 81 and 82, respectively.

When play was suspended, Amely Bochton of Wingate led at 4-under par for the tournament and the Bulldogs and Lander Bearcats were among the top teams for the day.
