Men’s Tennis Earns Three Wins over North Carolina Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team earned three wins Saturday in a four-match day against North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.

The Crusaders won the first three matches by scores of 6-1, 5-2 and 4-3 before the Battling Bishops earned a 6-1 win in the final match of the day.

Belmont Abbey is now 5-3 after Saturday's tennis quadruple header. North Carolina Wesleyan is 1-3 following Saturday's results.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match 1: BAC 6, NCW 1
The Crusaders finished with a clean sweep in doubles play and taking five of six singles matches. Cameron Simpson, Jackson Korta, Joel Lamotte, Aarav Hada and Nicholas Rizzo all earned wins in both doubles and singles play.

Match 2: BAC 5, NCW 2
Belmont Abbey continued its winning ways by taking two of three in doubles play and four singles wins. Jonas Berglund and Joshua Mayhew won in both singles and doubles.

Match 3: BAC 4, NCW 3
The Crusaders took two of three once again in doubles followed by three wins in singles. Noelle Andrey Ampong earned wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles.

Match 4: NCW 6, BAC 1
The match closed with sweeps in both directions as Belmont Abbey earned the doubles point with a sweep while the Battling Bishops won all six singles matches.

UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders will split the squads again on Tuesday.
  • Belmont Abbey will travel to face UNC Greensboro in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
  • Another group will face Wingate at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Monroe High School.
