GREENVILLE, S.C. — Belmont Abbey freshman wrestler
Elijah Carrington was named the Conference Carolinas Co-Wrestler of the Week Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Carrington earned the award after defeating UNC Pembroke's Logan Robinson 15-12 in a conference dual match on Friday. Robinson was ranked No. 6 in his weight class according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). He was named the co-wrestler of the week along with Michael McCarthy.
Additionally, Carrington is 4-0 in Conference Carolinas bouts in January as one of the top wrestlers for the Crusaders this season.
He is the fourth Crusader to earn wrestler of the week honors after
Caleb Moore won it twice and
Skyler Caban did so once earlier this season.
The Crusaders return to the mat on Thursday to face Newberry at 7 p.m.
