PEMBROKE, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's wrestling team won four bouts against No. 24 UNC Pembroke but it was not enough as the Crusaders fell 27-12 to the Braves Friday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

Kyler Pickard got the first victory of the evening in the 184-pound bout with a 4-0 decision after UNCP won the first three bouts of the evening. The Braves added three more wins on the evening before Elijah Carrington defeated Logan Robinson with a 15-12 victory. Robinson entered the match as the No. 6 wrestler according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association in his weight class.

Belmont Abbey closed the night strong with a pair of wins by Luke Kunath (141) and Skyler Caban (149). The Crusaders were assessed a one-point misconduct penalty during the match.

Belmont Abbey is now 6-5 overall and 6-2 in Conference Carolinas competition while UNC Pembroke is 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the league.
