BANNER ELK, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey men's team earned a crucial Conference Carolinas win by pulling out a crucial 4-3 victory over Lees-McRae Monday afternoon at the C.D. Chesley Tennis Courts. The match had been rescheduled from Friday due to weather.
The Crusaders took the doubles point and earned match point thanks to
Tim Stemler's win at No. 4 singles. Stemler also teamed up with
Noelle Andrey Ampong to win in No. 3 doubles as well for the Abbey.
Charlie Fremaux and
Elijah Buerkle earned a win at No. 1 doubles while
Nicholas Cary and
Peru Bayo earned wins in singles play.
Belmont Abbey improves to 19-16 overall and 7-1 in Conference Carolinas play while Lees-McRae is now 11-7 overall and 4-4 in the league.
