GREENVILLE, S.C. – Belmont Abbey swept the major awards for men's bowling with Jordan Woods earned Bowler of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors, with Head Coach Rich Gucwa, Jr., voted as Coach of the Year by his peers, the Conference Carolinas office announced today. The release comes on the eve of the 2025 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Conference Men's Bowling Championship that starts Friday in Newport, Ky.

Woods was a two-time all-tournament selection during the season, at the Tier 1 Kegel ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic and the Tier 2 DO Apparel Brunswick Collegiate Open. He was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month twice, in October and January, and was also selected as Conference Carolinas Bowler of the Week twice, on October 23 and January 22. On the season, he bowled 53 traditional games with an average of 206.1 and participated in 316 Baker frames for a 187.1 team average.

The honors for Woods marks the third straight year a Belmont Abbey bowler has been named Freshman of the Year, but he becomes the first Crusader to garner Bowler of the Year honors.

Belmont Abbey's Rich Gucwa, Jr. was selected Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year for the first time.

In addition, Woods was named to the all-conference team with fellow Crusaders Connor Breaman and Lance Owens.
