BELMONT, N.C. -- Casey Laing extended her hot hitting streak to 6-of-10 over the last three games, hitting safely in both games of a doubleheader with Lenoir Rhyne. However, the Bears prevailed in five innings in both contests, 12-0 and 14-1.
With the results, the Crusaders fall to 14-12, while the Bears improve to 19-11.
THE OPENER
- Laing had two hits in three at-bats with Allie Mayer, Sage Farmers and Jordan Stefani added singles.
- L-R opened a 7-0 lead after two innings and closed out the contest in five innings.
- Erin Gill (2-3) took the loss, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings.
THE NIGHTCAP
- Laing had one of the Crusader's three hits, a first-inning single. It put runners on the corners with one out, setting up Anna Elkins' sacrifice fly.
- Farmer singled in the third and Vicky Lott had a pinch-hit single in the fourth to round out the offense.
- Lilly Hartsell allowed eight runs in two innings to fall to 7-5.
