Abbey Defeats Coker in Regular Season Finale, Captures Share of Division Title

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey wrestling team earned its third straight win to close out the regular season thanks to a 30-7 victory over Coker Friday evening at the Deloach Center.
 
With the win, Belmont Abbey officially clinched a share of the East Division title and earned a spot in the Conference Carolinas Tournament scheduled for Sunday, February 16th at Lander.
 
The Crusaders earned the victory over the Cobras on Friday night with wins in eight of the 10 bouts and six straight to close the night. Maxwell Kiel (174) was one of three Belmont Abbey wrestlers to earn wins via tech fall along with Kyler Pickard (184) and Caleb Moore (197).
 
Belmont Abbey closes the regular season with an 8-7 overall record, 8-1 in Conference Carolinas and a 5-1 mark in division play. Coker finishes the regular season 10-12 overall, 3-6 in the conference and 2-4 in the division.
