GREENWOOD, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey wrestling team split a pair of Conference Carolinas dual matches against Shorter and Lander Wednesday evening at Lander's Finis Horne Arena.

The Crusaders defeated the Hawks 28-27 before falling to the Bearcats 24-17. Caleb Moore won both of his matches on the evening, one by forfeit and the other a major decision victory over Lander's Marvelous Rutledge.

Luca Giagunto won his second conference match with a pin at 149 over Shorter's Greyson Williams and it was Kyler Pickard's win via tech fall at 184 that helped the Crusaders earn the win over the Hawks.

Against the Bearcats, the Crusaders won the first four bouts with Zachary Bergman starting off with a major decision win. The Bearcats rallied and closed out the match with a pin in the final bout.

With Wednesday's results, Belmont Abbey is now 3-1 overall and 3-1 in league competition. Shorter is 0-3 overall and in the conference while Lander is 4-0 overall, 3-0 in the league.
