GLENVILLE, W. Va. — Caleb Moore and Nathan Carnes led the way for the Belmont Abbey wrestling team as the Crusaders opened the season at the Pioneer Open hosted by Glenville State Saturday at the Waco Center.

Moore and Carnes finished as the runner-ups in the 197 and 285 pound divisions, respectively. Moore finished 4-1 at the event with all the wins coming via fall or tech fall.
Carnes also went 4-1 for the event with two wins via tech fall and another via fall.

Kyler Pickard (184) finished third and Elijah Carrington (133) finished in fourth place, respectively.

As a team, Belmont Abbey finished with 141 points to finish second behind host Glenville State. The Crusaders had eight of 19 wrestlers competing finish in eighth place or better to earn poins.
