NINETY SIX, S.C. — Max Newton earned a Top 10 finish and
Eduardo Arango shot under par as the Belmont Abbey men's golf team concluded the fall season at the Patriot Golf Classic Tuesday.
The Crusaders finished in a fourth with a three-day total of 868 after completing the second round early Tuesday morning before going into the third and final round. When play resumed, Newton finished his second round at 3-under par 69 while his teammate
Dylan Reiser made birdie on his last hole to finish with a 1-under 71.
Belmont Abbey finished with an even par team total in round two after
Eduardo Arango and
Mariano Estebanez Rincon finished with rounds of 73 and 75, respectively.
Will Muldoon rounded out the team with a 75 as well.
In the final round of play, Newton's round was highlighted by an eagle 2 on the Par 4 1st hole, his 15th of the day. Arango started strong with birdies on his first two holes while Muldoon made three birdies in a row to open his day.
Arango and Newton were under par with rounds of 70 and 71, respectively, while Reiser shot an even-par 72.
Wingate won the team tournament with a 28-under par total with the Bulldogs' Lewis Beeden and Alfie Storer finishing at the top of the individual leaderboard.
