Rincon Takes Medalist Honors as Crusaders Capture Bob Dibble Memorial Title

10/14/2025 3:30:00 PM

CHUCKEY, Tenn. — Thanks to another solid day out on the course, the Belmont Abbey men's golf team earned its first tournament title of the year with a win at the Bob Dibble Memorial Tournament Tuesday at Graysburg Hills Golf Course.

It is the first team title that the Crusaders have earned since winning the Ralph Hargett Memorial back in March of 2022 in Monore, N.C. Belmont Abbey was the only team to finish under par as a team, shooting a 2-over 290 to finish with a three-round total of 860. The Crusaders finished 15 shots ahead of runner-up Coker and 20 over host Tusculum, who finished third.

Mariano Estebanez Rincon earned top medalist honors as he closed the tournament with a final round of 4-under par 68. He earned the victory by two shots over Coker's Thomas Broshears. Max Newton closed with a final round of 1-under par 71 to finish in third place alone at 5-under par for the tournament. Both Rincon and Newton were named to the All-Tournament team following the conclusion of play.

Rincon and Broshears were deadlocked for the top spot for most of the day. The pivotal stretch came during the 16th and 17th holes when Rincon made back-to-back birdies to retake the lead and hold on for the win. Eduardo Arango also earned a Top 15 finish with a final round of 75 and a three-round total of 3-over par 219.

In the second team of Crusaders competing, Nick Norman was the top finisher for Belmont Abbey with a three-round total of 227 (+11). John Dodrill and Jack Crawford shot 72 and 78, respectively, for the best rounds for the Belmont Abbey second team.
