Rincon, Newton Set Pace as Crusaders Lead at Bob Dibble Memorial

CHUCKEY, Tenn. — The Belmont Abbey men's golf team got off to a fast start and built on it in the second round as the Crusaders propelled into the lead after the first 36 holes of the Bob Dibble Memorial Tournament Monday at Graysburg Hills Golf Course. The tournament is being hosted by Tusculum.  

Mariano Estebanez Rincon and Max Newton both led the way for the Belmont Abbey A team as both sit tied for the lead and in third place, respectively, after two rounds. Rincon is tied at 7-under par with Coker's Thomas Broshears after rounds of 69 and 68. Newton is three shots back in solo third after an opening-round 68 followed by an even par 72. Both Crusaders made 13 birdies over the span of 36 holes.

The first team of Crusaders is at 6-under par and leads by 12 shots over Roane State Community College (+6) and 13 over Southern Wesleyan (+7). Eduardo Arango finished the day at even par with rounds of 73 and 71 and is tied for 13th.

Belmont Abbey sent a second team to the tournament and Nick Norman leads that group at one-over par for the day highlighted by a second-round of 1-under par 71. He is tied for 15th as part of the group of Crusaders in the Top 20.
