GOLDEN, Colo. — John Carayiannis earned three pins in his bouts and
Caleb Moore earned three wins as the Belmont Abbey wrestling team returned to action to compete at the Jack Hancock Duals Saturday hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
The Crusaders competed in three dual matches on the day against the University of Sioux Falls, host Colorado School of Mines and Central Missouri. Belmont Abbey was defeated in the three bouts by scores of 30-15, 24-20 and 35-15, respectively.
In the 149-pound weight class, Carayiannis started off his strong day with a pin of Sioux Falls' Lane Fink in 1:37. He followed that up with a victory over Colorado School of Mines Yahir Chairez-Salazar in 3:12 and concluded his day with a win over Central Missouri's Garrett Lyons in 2:50.
At 197, Moore also recorded wins in all three bouts earning a win over Sioux Falls' Stetson Davis via technical fall and earning a pin over Brayden Dillow of Central Missouri.
Elijah Boyd also earned two wins on the day with wins over Elliot Kim of Mines, a 17-6 major decision and capped the day with a 6-5 win over James Wright of Central Missouri.
