BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team returned home from the Christmas break and earned its third home victory of the season with a 34-15 victory over previously unbeaten Coker Friday night at the Wheeler Center.
The match was the first East Division contest for both teams.
The Crusaders earned victories in seven bouts which included five via technical fall.
Elijah Boyd (133),
Skyler Caban (149) and
Caleb Moore (165) won with identical 17-1 scores while
Christian Arrington (174) and
Kyler Pickard (184) won with scores of 20-4 and 18-1, respectively.
Maxwell Kiel and
Mason Kump also earned victories on the night for The Abbey.
Belmont Abbey improves to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas competition. Coker is 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.
