Hencken Honored as Women’s Tennis Wins on Senior Day

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team came away with its second straight Conference Carolinas victory at home as the Crusaders defeated Emmanuel 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Reidy Tennis Center.
 
It was also a day of celebration for senior Molly Hencken, who was honored by the team in a post-match ceremony.
 
The Crusaders were able to take the win after rallying for five wins in singles play after dropping the doubles point to the Lions.
Kayla Vaughan and Lily Aranyos came away with two wins each for the Crusaders. The pair teamed up for a win in No. 2 doubles and won matches in No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
 
Frankee Hendricks, Elizabeth Vollmin and Elliott Peterson also won in singles play for Belmont Abbey.
 
The Crusaders improved to 13-9 overall, 4-3 in the conference. Emmanuel is now 8-7 overall, 4-1 in the league.

  • The Crusaders will play a doubleheader Tuesday at the Reidy Tennis Center: The first match will be against Converse at 1 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. match against Methodist.
  • It will be the final two matches before the team takes time off for the Easter break.
