BRISTOL, Tenn./CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team returned to the court Tuesday and played three matches across two different sites.
The Crusaders opened up Conference Carolinas play with a 7-0 win at King Tuesday and dropped a pair of 5-1 matches against Queens.
Against King,
Xaveam Van Wijk led the way for the Abbey winning 6-0 in No. 1 doubles teaming up with
Nicholas Cary and winning in No. 1 singles 7-6, 6-3 over Alex Sodre.
In the two matches against Queens,
Thomas Roberts won in both doubles and singles play in the second match of the doubleheader while The Abbey took the doubles point against the Royals in the opener.
The results move the Crusaders to 11-15 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Queens is now 5-11 while King is 2-5, 0-1 in the league.
