BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team won its second match this week and its first against a Division I opponent this season with a 4-3 victory Saturday at the Reidy Tennis Center.
The Crusaders fell in two of the three doubles matches before rallying to win four singles matches to secure the victory.
Paola Socarras led the way for The Abbey, earning a doubles victory with
Daniella Galeano and going on to earn the clinching point in No. 5 singles.
She was able to stay alive by earning three match-saving points and completing a comeback to win 7-6 in the third set.
Frankee Hendricks,
Elliott Peterson and
Alexis Burkhalter were also victorious in singles play.
The result moves Belmont Abbey to 9-5 on the season. Queens is now 4-9.

The Crusaders will play one final home match before Conference Carolinas play starts against Hampton at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Reidy Tennis Center.
Belmont Abbey opens conference play at Lees-McRae next Saturday in Banner Elk.
