GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Hallie Mele hit safely in both games -- totaling four hits -- but Limestone swept a doubleheader over Belmont Abbey in college softball action Saturday afternoon. The Saints won the first game 1-0 in eight innings, then took the nightcap 5-0.

The Crusaders fall to 5-9 with the results, while the Saints improve to 14-12.

THE OPENER

• The teams were scoreless through seven innings when Limestone tallied the winning run on a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly.
• Mele went 3-for-4 with a double, while Shelby Sosebee added two singles. Mackenzie Allison and Jordyn Stefani completed the seven-hit attack.
• Alannah Browne pitched a complete game, allowing just the unearned run, She struck out five and walked three in falling to 2-5.

THE NIGHTCAP

• Limestone scored early with two in the first and two more in the third. The final run came across in the fourth..
• Belmont Abbey tallied just two hits -- singles by Mele and Mackenzie Sprinkle.
