HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team ended up splitting a pair of 4-3 matches against Lincoln Memorial and Union College Friday at the LMU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Crusaders won the opening match 4-3 against the Railsplitters before falling by the same score to the Bulldogs.
Belmont Abbey is now 8-5 on the season while LMU is 5-3. Union is now 2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Against the Railsplitters,
Nicholas Cary won in both doubles and singles play. He teamed up with
Xaveam Van Wijk with a 7-6 (3) victory in No. 1 doubles followed by a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (5) win over Harper Mills.
Christian Winstead also won in doubles and singles. In doubles, he teamed with
Nelson Stafford match for a 6-1 win over Nic Goslar and Thom Hermans. He followed that with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Franco Battaglino in No. 6 singles.
In the matches against Union, the Crusaders were led by
Andres Golindano who also won in doubles and singles play. He paired up with
Alex Turner for a 6-1 win over Joao Cardoso and Harry Jordan. In No. 2 singles, he defeated Niccolo Chiriatti 6-1, 6-2.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders are scheduled to play a match at Wake Forest at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
- Belmont Abbey is also scheduled to host Augusta in a doubleheader on March 1.
