BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team earned its second South Atlantic Conference Carolinas win of the season with a 26-14 victory over King Friday night at the Wheeler Center.
The Crusaders got off to a strong start in the match by winning the first four bouts highlighted by a pin from
Tyler Pepe def. King's Demetri Teddie.
After King won the next two bouts,
Kyler Pickard earned a two-point take down in the final seconds of the third period to take the victory def. Vincent Galang. Belmont Abbey clinched the match with a pin from
Christos Avgeros in just 32 seconds.
The Crusaders improved to 6-10 overall, 2-5 in conference play. King is now 8-9 overall, 3-5 in the league.
