SUMTER, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team advanced to the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship match following a 4-1 victory over No. 5 seed Francis Marion in the semifinals Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
The top-seeded Crusaders took the doubles point with wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Nicholas Cary and
Xaveam Van Wijk defeated Leonel Gonzalez and Liam Day, 6-1 while
Nelson Stafford and
Zachary Blythe defeated Harri Lloyd-Evans and Martin Barbera 6-2.
The Patriots won one singles match before Blythe and
Andres Golindano won matches in No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Cary ended up clinching the match for The Abbey with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Luis Lopez Sarasa.

- The Crusaders will face the No. 3 seed Mount Olive in the championship match beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
