DUE WEST, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team closed the regular season with a close match on the road at Erskine Saturday. The Crusaders won three singles matches but it was the Flying Fleet who came away with the 4-3 victory.
Erskine won all three doubles matches to earn a point for the match.
The top three singles players all earned points for The Abbey.
Elliott Peterson was the first to complete her match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Luize Valtere.
Kayla Vaughan and
Frankee Hendricks both rallied from dropping the first set in No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively. Vaughan won her match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 over Emma Bentz while Hendricks defeated Szvilia Ferenczy, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.
Belmont Abbey closes the regular season with a 13-16 overall record and 6-5 in Conference Carolinas. Erskine finishes 10-9 overall and 8-3 in the league.
