MONROE, N.C. – Ben Loudermilk led the way for the Belmont Abbey men's golf team as the Crusaders opened play at the Hargett Memorial Invitational Monday at Rolling Hills Country Club.
The Crusaders finished with a 36-hole total Monday of 584 (295-289—584) and are eight shots behind the tournament leader, Queens, entering the final round.
Loudermilk closed the opening day with the low round of the tournament so far for The Abbey with a 3-under-par 69 in the second round. He currently sits in third place at 2-under par overall for the tournament (73-69) and is two shots behind the leader.
Three other Belmont Abbey golfers finished Monday in the top 20, including
Andrew Rose (73-74—147) who is tied for 15th at 3-over par.
Brendan Kelly (75-73—148) and
Connor Fahey (73-75—148) are one shot back in a tie for 19th.
Jack Warren (75-74—149) is tied for 25th along with
Henry Sparks (71-78—149) who led the way for the second team that the Crusaders have competing at the tournament.
