FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team won five bouts in the team's first Conference Carolinas road match at Emmanuel Wednesday.
 
Ultimately, it was the Lions who came away with an 18-15 victory. Emmanuel won the first three bouts of the evening while Belmont Abbey won three of the final four bouts.
 
Maxwell Kiel won his second straight bout to begin his collegiate career while Tyler Pepe, Kyler Pickard, Mason Kump and John Carroll III all came away with wins for the Crusaders.
 
Belmont Abbey is now 1-2 overall, 0-2 in Conference Carolinas. Emmanuel is now 2-0 both overall and in the conference.
