BELMONT, N.C. -
Melissa Neyhouse went 3-for-3 in Game two, but the Belmont Abbey softball team lost both games to Augusta this afternoon, by scores of 3-0 and 8-2. The Crusaders now hold a 2-8 record. Augusta is now 6-8.
GAME ONE
- Bailey Presley gave The Abbey a good start, singling to left field, then stealing second base. Unfortunately, the Crusaders only managed two other hits in the contest
- Alannah Browne and Sydney Fields combined to throw four strikeouts in the game
GAME TWO
- The Crusaders again got off to a good start, with Neyhouse getting a hit to lead off the first inning, and reaching second base
- Neyhouse reached third in the third inning, but was unable to score
- The Abbey offense was strong in the fifth, getting back-to-back singles followed by back-to-back walks, giving the Crusaders their first run of the contest
- Presley scored on a wild pitch to make it an 8-2 game
- From there, a Neyhouse double in the seventh was all the offense The Abbey got, as Augusta wrapped up the 8-2 win
- On the day, Neyhouse led the Crusaders with a 3-for-3 performance in Game 2, with a run scored
UP NEXT
Belmont Abbey will begin conference play with a doubleheader at Erskine on Tuesday, March 9. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
