RALEIGH, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey softball team opened their season with a doubleheader sweep over William Peace Tuesday. Scored 16 total runs in the two games on 18 hits including four extra base hits.
Game One Highlights
BAC 4 – WP 3

• Mackenzie Sprinkle led the Crusaders with two hits including an RBI in the second inning.
• Cameron Cooper drove in two runs in the game with a single in the second.
• Melissa Neyhouse added an RBI single in the second for the fourth Abbey run.
• Annabeth Watkins pitched a complete game allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Game Two Highlights
BAC 12 – WP 6

• Katie Allison hit a two-run home run as the second batter of the game allowing The Abbey to jump to an early lead.
• Payton Whitley had two hits in the game including a two-run double in the second.
• Sydney Pon laved a two-run single in the second to grow The Abbey's lead to 8-4.
• The Crusaders added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to seal the win.
• Starter Abigail Mravja took the win for The Abbey.
• Jordanna Shorts pitched an inning and a third collecting a strikeout.
• Alannah Brown pitched the final four innings not allowing a run while striking out two.
