BOONE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team competed against Division I opponent and nationaly ranked Appalachian State Saturday. The Crusaders were defeated by the Mountaineers 50-0, their record moves to 1-1 on the season as No. 29 Appalacian State improves to 2-0.
Michael Bedard wrestled in the 125 weight class and Nicholas Lukanich participated in the 133 class, both earning a point in their match.
Greg Hilliard contended well in the 157 weight class getting narrowly edged out by Angel Najar 9-4.
Jake Glunt had a very competitive first period against Forrest Przybysz, who is ranked 17 in the country in the 165 weight class, before falling 11-2.
The Crusaders next match will be Saturday at the Campbellsville Duals.
