Women's Cross Country Tabbed Fifth in Coaches Poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Belmont Abbey's Women's Cross Country team has been picked fifth in the preseason poll of league coaches, the Conference Carolinas office announced today. The Crusaders received 83 total points.

Mount Olive was voted to defend its title with nine first-place votes and 118 points, while North Greenville earned 107 points and two top picks. King, which grabbed the final first-place vote, was third with 102 points.

Southern Wesleyan was just ahead of The Abbey with 94 points, with Limestone and Emmanuel claiming sixth and seventh, respectively. Lees-McRae, Converse and Barton (tied for ninth), Erskine and league newcomer Chowan rounded out the poll.

The top six in the preseason poll mirrored the top six at the 2018 Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship.

The Crusaders return a solid contingent of runners from last year, led by Annie Hetzel (Jr./Weddington, N.C.), Savannah Lamb (Sr./Mint Hill, N.C.) and Taylor Rusnak (Jr./Haiku, Hawaii).
